Can I take just one Counselor Education Graduate Course?

Students with a Bachelor's degree or higher can take UConn’s Counselor Education courses as "non-degree" students. The "non-degree" designation allows students to take courses for credit without being formally admitted to the University. A maximum of 6 credits (two courses) can be taken as a "non-degree" student. If you decide to matriculate into a Counselor Education graduate certificate or degree program in the future, course credits are transferable if you receive a “B-” or better.

The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Online Graduate Certificate is primarily geared toward individuals seeking licensure in Connecticut. However, if you are seeking licensure in another state, and need additional credits, or to take coursework in a specific content area, we welcome you to consider our program as a non-degree student, meaning you will take the class in a non-matriculated manner. Please note, that the faculty members do not advise on licensure requirements and procedures outside of Connecticut, so you will need to be aware of what credits and content areas you need to fulfill for licensure in your home state.
