Spring 2023 Message from Counselor Education Program Coordinator

It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life, and we’re feeling good! The words of prolific artist and civil rights activist Nina Simone truly apply to the current state of the Counselor Education program. We are excited about a number of new developments in the program and would like to share them with you.

Since my arrival to UConn and this program in 2020, we have experienced many transitions and continue to thrive. We welcomed a new faculty member in fall 2022, Dr. Haynes-Thoby, and created our Licensed Professional Counselor Graduate Certificate Program (an effort led by Dr. Sara Renzulli).

Our students excel inside and outside of the classroom, being acknowledged by state and national organizations. They remain enthusiastic about their learning and continue to engage in professional development opportunities. The program faculty are productive in the field of counselor education and seek to provide a meaningful and quality learning experience for our students.

Lastly, we offer heartfelt congratulations to our 2023 graduates! You are the future of counselor education, and we applaud you on a job well done.
