Winter 2024 Message from the Counselor Education Program Coordinator

“I’m convinced of this: Good done anywhere is good done everywhere. For a change, start by speaking to people rather than walking by them like they’re stones that don’t matter. As long as you’re breathing, it’s never too late to do some good.”
– Dr. Maya Angelou

Headshot of Professor, Dr. Diandra PrescodThe Counselor Education program continues to do its best in providing a quality learning experience for students. Since Summer 2023, we welcomed our inaugural cohort in the Licensed Professional Counselor Graduate Certificate program and faculty and current/former students presented at regional, national, and international conferences. The program faculty are proud of our 100% job placement rate for our 2023 graduates and the continued success of our program alumni.

Our current students are excelling in their internships and enjoy serving students and the community in various districts in the state. Additionally, our program hosted its first Town Hall in November, when students and faculty came together to discuss any topics of interest concerning the program and anything else they felt appropriate to share. During challenging times that are affecting many in various ways, we thought it was important to hold a space for everyone to come together in support. As counselors, we create space for our clients to share, feel, experience, and discover and we want to provide the same for our students.

In community,
Diandra J. Prescod, Ph.D., LPC, NCC
